A budget app that never asks for your bank password

You don't have to hand over the keys to your account to get your money in order. In Oslo you log what comes in and what goes out, and the app does the rest: your balances, what's due and what you really have left.

Why not asking for your bank password works in your favor

A bank password opens your money. An app that never asks for it has no way to lose it or use it, and you never have to wonder what it does with it.

It also helps you spot scams: if a message “from Oslo” asks for a password, a verification code or your card details, it's fake. Oslo never asks for them.

And there's something your bank never sees: cash. Since you're the one logging, the lunch you paid in bills counts just like the card purchase.

All your accounts in one place, without linking any

On Money you see your accounts, your goals and your debts together. Pick your bank or app from a list, or choose “Other”, and give it any name you like.

Tell Oslo how much each account has today, and from there it keeps the balance with what you log. If one day it doesn't match your bank, tap “Set your balance” and Oslo adds an adjustment for the difference, which counts as neither income nor an expense.

An account in another currency? Each account keeps its own, and Oslo never adds two currencies together without the exchange rate you log.

What happens with your data

You can turn off crash reports and usage data in More › Help and privacy › Data and privacy. And if you like, Oslo asks for your fingerprint or your face to open on your phone.

If you ever leave, you delete your account from the app or from the website, and your profile, accounts, entries and goals are erased.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use a budget app that doesn't link to my bank?

Oslo doesn't connect to your bank or ask for passwords, verification codes or card details, so it holds nothing that opens your money. What it knows is what you log. You can also ask for your fingerprint or face to open the app on your phone, and delete your account whenever you want.

Does Oslo have ads?

No. Oslo shows no ads, doesn't use your phone's advertising ID and doesn't share data with ad networks. It also doesn't sell or rent your data, and it doesn't send you marketing emails.

Does it work with any bank or wallet?

Yes, because it doesn't depend on connecting to any of them. You create an account for each place where you keep money, pick the bank or app from the list or choose “Other”, and log what comes in and goes out. Cash has its own account from day one.

Do I have to log everything by hand?

Yes, and there's a point to it: logging makes you see every expense. It takes seconds, because today's date and your last account are already filled in. It works offline and syncs on its own when you're back online.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

Your profile, accounts, entries and goals are erased from your phone and from Oslo's servers. You do it in the app, under More, or on the delete-account page of the website. It can't be undone.
