A debt payoff app: every card, loan and instalment with its rate and its date

Getting out of debt starts with seeing it all together. In Oslo every card, loan and instalment purchase has what you owe, the payment, the payment day and the rate, and you get a reminder before each date.

Sample data

What you see for each debt

Each debt has its own screen: what you owe, how much you've paid, the next payment with its date, the monthly payment and the interest.

Logging a payment takes a moment: the amount and the account you paid from. Before you save, Oslo tells you what the debt will come down to.

If your employer takes the payment out of your pay, you mark it, and Oslo doesn't set it aside again: your pay already arrives without it.

Plasti and the card's fine print

Plasti, Oslo's card, looks after your debts and instalments, and she has a clear rule: what you buy with the card counts as spent on the day you buy it, or one instalment a month if you pay over time. Interest goes separately, under “Debt payments”, because it pays for something you already bought.

If what your bank says doesn't match what Oslo has, tap “Match my statement”. Oslo asks what the difference is, such as interest or purchases you didn't log, and sorts it out. Your statement has the final word.

What you have left, with your instalments already out

The instalments due before your next payday aren't free money. That's why the number on Today, what you have left, already sets them aside, along with what's due and what you decided to spend.

That way you don't mistake your account balance for what you can spend. And with the Personal plan you can ask the assistant how to pay off your debts faster, with your own numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What debts can I track in Oslo?

Credit cards, loans and other debts. A store instalment plan or a “buy now, pay later” purchase is logged as a purchase on that credit, and you pick how many instalments. On the Free plan you keep up to 3 debts. With a plan, as many as you need.

Does Oslo remind me when to pay?

Yes. When you log a debt's payment day, your phone reminds you two days before, unless the payment comes out of your pay, and the payment shows up on Today, under Coming up, with a button to log it. Phone reminders are free and never show amounts.

How do I know which debt to pay first?

Log each debt's rate: that way you have them all in view to compare them (if one is monthly and another annual, our calculator puts them on the same footing). There are two well-known methods. The avalanche pays the highest rate first and usually costs you less interest overall. The snowball starts with the smallest, so you see a debt closed soon. Our article on the debt snowball explains both.

What if one rate is monthly and another is annual?

Enter it the way it appears on your statement, monthly or annual: Oslo reads it the way it's published in your country. Where statements show two different annual rates, the screen asks which one you copied and helps you choose. To compare them yourself, our calculator converts a monthly rate into an effective annual one.

Are instalment purchases counted correctly?

Yes. When you log a purchase by card or on credit, you pick how many instalments, from 2 to 48, and Oslo counts one a month in its category. If you pay more, you pay the last ones early. If the purchase is refunded, the remaining instalments come down, starting from the last one.
