Security and privacy
What Oslo does with your data, where it lives and who can see it, in plain words. The legal details are in the privacy policy.
Your money
Can Oslo move or touch my money?
No. Oslo doesn't connect to your bank or your wallet, never asks for passwords or card details, and doesn't hold, transfer or lend money. What it knows about your money is what you log.
Is Oslo a bank or a financial institution?
No. Oslo is an app to keep track of your money: it takes no deposits and lends no money, so it isn't supervised by Colombia's Financial Superintendency or any other financial authority, as its terms say.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
On your phone, so the app works offline, and in your account on Google Cloud (Firebase), in the United States. It travels over encrypted connections and is stored encrypted. Every Firebase service holds the ISO 27001 and SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3 security certifications, as its privacy page explains.
Who can see my transactions?
You, from your account. The database rules let each person read and write only their own data, and administrative access is restricted. Your data is never sold and there are no third-party ads in Oslo.
Does Oslo track me for advertising?
No. Oslo shows no third-party ads, doesn't use your phone's advertising identifier and doesn't share data with ad networks. It doesn't access your precise location, your contacts, your camera or your microphone either.
Can I protect the app with my face or fingerprint?
Yes. In More › Settings › Security you can require Face ID, your fingerprint or your phone's passcode to open Oslo.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. In More › Help and privacy › Data and privacy, “Export my transactions” makes a CSV file with all your transactions (date, type, amount, accounts, category, shop and note), to open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. It's made on your phone, even offline.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. In More › Session › Delete account your profile, accounts, transactions and goals are deleted, from your phone and from our servers. If you no longer have the app, request it on Delete account.
Usage data and crashes
What is usage data and what is it for?
It helps us make Oslo better: which screens get used most, where someone gets stuck and what to fix first. It's counts: it never carries your amounts, your notes, your merchants or what you write, and the team only sees it as overall figures, without your name or email. We measure it with Google Analytics without Google signals and without ad personalization, and it's kept for up to 14 months.
What is a crash report?
If something fails in the app, we get a technical report so we can fix it fast: which screen it happened on and which step failed. It never carries your figures.
Can I turn them off?
Yes. They come on to help us improve the app, and you turn them off whenever you want in More › Help and privacy › Data and privacy. With them off, Oslo works just the same.
The AI
What happens to my data when I use the assistant?
The assistant is optional and asks your permission before the first message. To answer you it sends Google's AI (Gemini) your question, what you talked about before, your first name and a summary of your money: accounts, goals, debts, payments, budgets and categories, and your latest transactions with date, amount, category and account. It never sends your notes, the shops of your transactions, your email or your account's identifier. Google processes it only to answer you and doesn't use it to train its models. To answer faster it may keep it in a cache that is deleted within 24 hours at the latest, and only if its systems detect possible abuse may it keep the question for up to 90 days to review it. You can withdraw the permission anytime in More › Help and privacy › Data and privacy, and without the assistant the rest of Oslo works just the same.
How we look after it
Has Oslo had a security audit?
There's no published external audit of Oslo yet. What there is: your data lives on Firebase, whose services hold the ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications; the rules that keep each person's data apart are tested automatically before every update, and if a test fails, the update doesn't ship; and anyone can report a security flaw to us.
How do I report a security flaw?
Write to us at soporte@oslofinanzas.com with the subject “Security” and tell us how to reproduce it. We review it as a priority and tell you what we did. While we fix it, we ask you not to publish it or use other people's data.
Who's responsible
Who is behind Oslo?
Oslo is developed and run by Duvan Vargas, in Colombia. You can write to soporte@oslofinanzas.com, and the privacy policy has his full details, your rights over your data and how to exercise them.
The full detail is in the privacy policy and the terms. A question that isn't here? Write to us at soporte@oslofinanzas.com.
