What makes a day count
Your streak doesn't reward spending or logging more. A day adds up when two things hold: you're up to date, because you logged something or marked “I didn’t spend today”, and the day went well, meaning no bill that was due that day was left unrecorded.
If you logged but a bill stayed open, the day shows as “Off plan”, with no scolding: record it when you can and that day is back on track. And if you write down the week's spending on Sunday, those days count: an expense counts if you log it no more than 7 days later. “I didn’t spend today”, though, is marked on the day itself.
If your streak goes out, Oslo doesn't blame you. It says: “Let’s start again. Today is day one and I’m with you.”
Your level and your achievements
Your level rises with healthy consistency, never with the number of entries or with amounts: what counts is days kept up to date, days without spending, bills recorded on time, goals reached, debts paid off and whole months kept. There are four levels: Getting started, You keep up, You pay on time and You build a cushion.
Achievements mark the moments that matter: your first entry, a week in a row, a whole month, three days without spending, a bill paid on time, one debt fewer or a goal reached. When you earn one, or move up a level, Oslo celebrates it.
It all lives in More › Your progress › Your streak: your level, the month's calendar, your days without spending and your achievements. And at the top of Today, the flame shows your days in a row.
Leagues: your month's habits, no amounts
There are six leagues, from Hormi Mode to Diamond, and everyone starts in Bronze, which asks for one thing: don't spend money you don't have. Silver adds your streak alive, nothing overdue when the month closes and more coming in than going out. Gold adds saving something every month and paying each thing on its date; Sapphire, a cushion of one month of your basic expenses and your card paid in full; and Diamond, a three-month cushion. To move up to any of these, also no new loans.
Your league is decided on the 3rd of the following month and moves one step at most, up or down. Nothing is measured in amounts, only your habits, so a small salary reaches Diamond too. On your streak screen you see what this month asks of you, point by point, and a morning note tells you how it went, with no amounts.
Hormi Mode is for a month when more money went out than you had, and it's quick to leave: one month where what goes out doesn't exceed what you have is enough. You don't end up there by not using the app.
Once your league is decided, you can share it: an image with your league and your invitation goes out, with no amounts. Hormi Mode is never shared.
The end-of-day note
At the evening time you choose, Oslo sends you a short note. If you logged something, it cheers you on; if you marked “I didn’t spend today”, it celebrates your no-spend day; and if not, it reminds you to log or mark your day, with your streak's days if it's alive.
That same evening, from the notification, you can tap “I didn’t spend” without opening the app. It never arrives during your quiet hours or carries amounts, and you turn it off or change its time in More › Settings › Notifications.
If you're just starting out
If you're just starting out, you don't need to log perfectly: you need to come back tomorrow. That's why a no-spend day takes one tap, the margin covers the day that slips by and nobody scolds you for a hard month.
Frequently asked questions
What counts for the streak?
A day counts when you're up to date and the day went well: you logged something or tapped “I didn’t spend today”, and no bill due that day was left unrecorded. How much you log or spend doesn't matter. And an expense still counts if you log it later, as long as it's no more than 7 days later; “I didn’t spend today” is marked on the day itself.
What happens if I forget to log one day?
Your streak doesn't break: every month you have 3 spare days, which cover a day without logging or with a bill left open. The margin comes back every month and is never for sale. If it runs out and another day goes by, the streak starts again, and Oslo is with you from day one.
Do I have to log every day?
No. If you didn't spend, tap “I didn’t spend today” and the day counts all the same. From 5 p.m. Today asks you, and the end-of-day note lets you mark it with one tap. If a day slips by, the monthly margin covers it.
How do the leagues work?
There are six, from Hormi Mode to Diamond, and everyone starts in Bronze. On the 3rd of each month the previous month's league is decided: it moves up or down one step at most, based on your habits, like not spending money you don't have, paying on time, saving something and having a cushion. Nothing is measured in amounts.
Are my amounts visible if I share my league?
No. The image you share carries your league, how many months in a row you've been in it if there are several, and your invitation to Oslo, with no amounts, percentages or goal names. Hormi Mode is never shared: nobody has to show a hard month.
Are the streak and the leagues free?
Yes. The streak, the level, the achievements and the leagues are free for everyone, and so is the end-of-day note, because your own phone schedules it. Everything is worked out on your phone from what you log, so it works even without the internet.
